We all know that as with children the first 24 hours are the most important in finding a missing or stolen dog.   Before you're dog is missing or stolen, consider a microchip, have known cases where dogs have been found long after the owners have stopped looking, because the shelter or vet have checked to see if the dog had a microchip.

What to do?  First SCREAM, I find it helps me think after I let out a primordial scream.  Then do all you can to find your beloved pet.

Here are a few things you can do to find your dog, and most of all don't ever give up, dogs have been found even after 5 years or more.

1.                  Have a current photo of your dog

2.                  Place lost dog signs in the neighborhood

3.                  Ask your friends and neighbors to be in the look out for your dog

4.                  Visit animal shelters in your area with a photo and check the animals at the shelter.

5.                  Call vets close by and visit them with photo that they can post for you.

6.                  Place an add in the local newspaper with photo if possible, add Reward but don’t say how much.

7.                  Check out the found dog adds in the paper, someone could have found your dog and placed an add.

8.                  Drive around your neighborhood you might spot him.

9.                  Post an add in http://dogdetective.com/

10.             Most important don’t ever give up
