Training Tip # 6 Dog Behavior

This training tip on dog behavior page will be updated from time to time from boxer meeting another dog to dog etiquette and other behaviors.

Boxer behavior toward another dog

Some say the boxer is an aggressive dog, that statement is a generalization that is incorrect.  No doubt there are aggressive dogs everywhere, but the boxer if well bred and raised will not be aggressive, even an abused boxer will not be aggressive to a gentle hand, is not his nature to be aggressive.

The boxer is the clown of the dog world, however that said, he is a hard worker in whatever job or sport he is to perform.

He has a sense of humor and if he likes another dog, he will invite him or her to play by bumping them with his nose.  Some people will mistake this for aggression, I have found that other dogs do not interpret it as such.  Be careful or your boxer will be labeled aggressive by this simple act of playfulness.

Keep your dog on leash at a distance of at least 3 feet from any other dog.  Not all dogs are playful or nice to another dog, let alone a dog that likes to play all the time like the boxer does.
